Book Review ~ "Darker Days" by Jus Accardo

Darker Days (The Darker Agency, #1)Darker Days by Jus Accardo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Source: Received from Entangled Publishing for Review
Genre: YA Paranormal/Romance
Publication Date: August 26, 2013

Book Description: Jessie Darker goes to high school during the day, but at night she helps with the family investigation business. Cheating husbands and stolen inheritances? They’re your girls—but their specialty is a bit darker. Zombie in your garage? Pesky Poltergeist living in your pool? They’ll have the problem solved in a magical minute. For a nominal fee, of course...

When gorgeous new client, Lukas Scott, saunters into the office requesting their help to find a stolen box, it sounds like a simple case—until the truth comes out. The box is full of Sin.

Seven deadly ones, in fact.

They’ve got five days to recapture the Sins before they're recalled by the box, taking seven hijacked human bodies with them. Easy peasy—except for one thing...

There’s a spell that will allow the Sins to remain free, causing chaos forever. When the key ingredient threatens the life of someone she knows, Jessie must make the ultimate choice between love and family—or lose everything.

My thoughts:  Jessie Darker lives an interesting life. By day, she is your "normal" teenager attending high school. After hours, she is a paranormal detective who knows how to get rid of zombies and demons.

She lives in an apartment above the offices of Darker Agency. It was founded by one of her ancestors and they continue on in the tradition of ridding people of their otherworldly problems. Life is good and predictable in a way until Lukas asks for help. He was recently released from a box, a box that held seven sins. They are loose and are creating havoc wherever they go. There job is to get them back in the box within the next seven days, or they will forever be free. The catch is that somehow they need to trap the other six and set Lukas free.

Jessie is a fun character to read about. She has a lot of attitude and is quick on her feet. She is not one to quietly follow directions, no she likes to do her own thing, even if she is going against the rules.

Jus Accardo has written a well thought out book. It is full of action and has a little romance. The characters are all interesting and enough information is given about them to understand them and why they made their decisions and why the act certain ways.

This book does contain violence, swearing, innuendo, and kissing.  I would recommend for readers 16+.

This book will be released on August 26th.  You can pre-order your copy now! :)
