Book Review ~ A Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zinc

A Temptation of AngelsA Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zink
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Genre: YA Angels/Demons

Book DescriptionEven angels make mistakes in this page-turning epic romance

When her parents are murdered before her eyes, sixteen-year-old Helen Cartwright finds herself launched into an underground London where a mysterious organization called the Dictata controls the balance of good and evil. Helen learns that she is one of three remaining angelic descendants charged with protecting the world's past, present, and future. Unbeknownst to her, she has been trained her whole life to accept this responsibility. Now, as she finds herself torn between the angelic brothers protecting her and the devastatingly handsome childhood friend who wants to destroy her, she must prepare to be brave, to be hunted, and above all to be strong, because temptation will be hard to resist, even for an angel.

Michelle Zink masterfully weaves historical fantasy with paranormal romance to create a gripping tale of love and betrayal.

My thoughts:  Helen's life changes dramatically one evening when her mother rushes into her room and has her escape through a secret passage in her room. She is thrown into a world of angels and demons. She is sixteen and is unaware of her angelic destiny, they go through an enlightenment at seventeen.

She finds her way to the home of two brothers. They begin to help her understand the life that is her future. One is surly (Darius) and the other is kind (Griffin). One of them comes to mean more to her than the other. She also has problems reconciling her feelings of the boy (Raum) she knew as a child and the man he became who murdered her parents.

Michelle Zinc has written a book that is a wonderful read. The book is well written and the characters are fleshed out. I can't say there was a character that I didn't enjoy reading about, even the bad guys.  This book has action and romance.  The pacing is perfect for the book.  I didn't find myself skipping words or sections to get to the "good" part.

There is some violence, minor swearing, and kissing.
