Blog Tour ~ "My Loving Vigil Keeping" by Carla Kelly

Book Description:  Della's giving up all the comforts of bustling Salt Lake City to teach school in a rural coal mining camp. Little does she know, she may soon be giving up her heart as well. But when tragedy strikes in the Scofield Mine, Della's life is changed forever. Based on true events, this thrilling new romance from award-winning and bestselling author Carla Kelly is a must-read!

Calra Kelly has become one of my favorite author's.  I love how her books are based off of historical fiction and bring a time and place to life in my mind.    "My Loving Vigil Keeping" has been on my too read shelf for quite a while now.  I was offerred an ARC copy back in July of 2012 and haven't had the opportunity to get to it yet.  I did have one of my friend reviewers read the book and write a review.  I will post that in just a moment.

Last week I undertook an adventure.  (At least that is what I have been trying to think of it as.)  I had my tonsils removed in my 40's.  I thought that this would allow me quite a bit of reading time.  I have actually put in more sleeping time.  It has been a very difficult time for me.  I did start this book thinking that I would have all the time in the world to complete it... you guessed it, I'm not done.  It's amazing how cloudy and tired you become while taking pain pills.  I stopped taking them today and switched to Ibuprofen, hoping it will make a difference in my quality of life.

I am loving this book 100%.  It is well on it's way to getting a five star rating from me.  But in all fairness, I am posting Bonnie's review, just so you can see the opinion of someone who has completed the book.  I will get a full review up soon.

Bonnies's Book Review ~ She gave it 5 stars in December 2012.

I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and I was spiritually lifted. This book was absolutely wonderful! I thoroughly enjoy reading books that have facts and fiction. I learn about history, but I get to relive it through the characters.
Della is a wonderful character that experienced many of life's hardships in her short life. And if you know of the events that happened in Winter Quarters, Scofield, Utah, in the years of 1899-1900, you will understand that she learned many of those during the year she spent there as a teacher. Della learned a lot about herself and her past, all the while setting up a wonderful future.
I had never heard of Winter Quarters before this book, and immediately went online after finishing looking for more. I am a bit of a genealogist, and the personal histories of such people fascinates me. But just learning facts dooesn't work for me. Actually feeling what was felt, or seeing what they saw, through the eyes of these characters paints my picture.
Carla Kelly is an excellent author, and know I will be hunting out more of her books!
