My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Source: Received eBook to review
Genre: YA Paranormal

Description from Goodreads: Alex Kosmitoras’s life has never been easy. The only other student who will talk to him is the school bully, his parents are dead-broke and insanely overprotective, and to complicate matters even more, he's blind. Just when he thinks he'll never have a shot at a normal life, a new girl from India moves into town. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Yes, sophomore year might not be so bad after all.

Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival—an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to “see” the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they begin to suggest that Simmi is in danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and new friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex must embark on a journey to change his future.

My thoughts: Alex has a disability. He is blind. He is good with it. I think he understands that there isn't anything he can do about it, he accepts it with grace and lives the best and most normal life that he can.

Ok, maybe not too normal. He doesn't have a lot of friends. He would like to though. He is starting his sophomore year of high school and his goal is to make a friend this year.

Simmi is new to town, and she smells wonderful. Alex can't help but to want to know her better, to become her friend, and if he's lucky enough her boyfriend.

Things begin to change when his dad begins acting weird and he starts having visions of the future. A psychic has opened up shop next to his mother's flower shop and he begins to visit her. He begins to train to control and tap into his new power.  She has an obnoxious daughter that begins to hang out with him and Simmi, her name is Shapri. (I actually really liked her, he thinks she is obnoxious, I think she is entertaining.)

His visions show him a troubled young man named Dax. His visions show violence and uncontrolled rage. He makes it his goal to stop Dax, because his visions show the death of his friend Simmi.

This story is well written. It caught and held my interest right from the beginning. I really enjoyed Alex's character. I was impressed by his attitude and ability to make the best of his situation. Simmi is such a cute character. She brings her heritage from India.  I loved that.  I love it when books show a diversity of people and cultures.   When you add the psychic's daughter you see what cooperation and friendship can accomplish.

  1. Thank you for this lovely review, Lisa. I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed my story - what more could any author want? I'm also delighted to hear that you liked Shapri; of all the characters, she's the one who is closest to my heart :-D

Might I ask you for a favor? Would you mind cross-posting this review to Amazon and GoodReads to help up exposure for Farsighted? I'd sure appreciate it!

    Thanks a million,
